To marry in Taos, you need someone authorized to perform the ceremony, two witnesses and a marriage license, which can be obtained at:
Taos County Clerk's Office
105 Albright Street, Suite D
Taos, New Mexico 87571
575-737-6380
They are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. They only require a picture ID and a twenty-five dollar filing fee (no blood tests).
After the ceremony, you must register the license with the Clerk's office to create an official legal record.
If, however, you simply wish to participate in a renewal of vows or a ceremony of recommitment, no license is required.
If you wish to obtain a license at any other County Clerk's office in the state, it is a good idea to call the office before leaving home. Each office has its own requirements for obtaining a license.
