Description

Despite its baggy appearance octopus are considered to be the most intelligent of invertibrates. Scientists estimate the octupus has an intelligence that at least matches that of the household cat. Octopus have the intelligence and dexterity to open a screwed jar lid or uncork a bottle to obtain any food placed within them. In an interesting evolutionary coincidence, the octopus has evolved an eye that is remarkably similar to the human eye. The octopus is member of the Cephalopoda order. Octopus are relatively short-lived; rarely do they live longer than four years. In the four years of their life, octopus can grow to lengths of 2.4 m (8 ft) and weigh 23 kg (50 lbs).
