Catching the fish
Capturing the fish for culture requires that the fish is not harmed when it is caught. To catch the fish, many of the same techniques used in commercial fisheries are employed, such as nets. Another technique that is used is electrofishing, in which a small electrical current is placed in the water, stunning, but not harming the fish. After capture the fish are transferred to a hatchery where their eggs or sperm are extracted.
