  Description

The difference between hake and whiting is vague as both are often marketed under the name of whiting. European Hake (Merluccius merluccius) is often substituted and confused with European whiting. Europan whiting grow to between 20 and 35 cm (8 to 14 in) in length but some females can grow to 70 cm (28 in).
