 Place in Food Chain

The mahi mahi is the Hawaiian name for a fish also known as the dolphin fish. In fact its spanish name dorado translates to dolphin. Despite its name it shares no relationship with the mammal known as the dolphin. They grow to a maximum of 22 kg (50 lbs) but mahi mahi larger than 6 kg are rarely seen on the market. Mahi mahi have an unusually short lifespan for a fish their size. The typical mahi mahi only lives 3 to 4 years.
