  Description

Drum fish get their name from their ability to create a drumming sound by snapping muscles connected to their air and swim bladders. The croaker belongs to this family. There are dozens of drum species located in the tropical regions of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The most important of the drums are the red drum, black drum, kingfish, and weakfish.
