The Philippines is an island (7,100 of them) country in East Asia below
Hong Kong. There are approximately 65 million people, and because of the
geographical nature of its land, fishing or some form of aquaculture has
been in practice for a long time. Inland aquaculture (inland ponds) consists
mostly of raising milkfish and shrimps, mainly for
local consumption. But Tilapia has become the Philippines most valuable
species. They are now the world's biggest commercial producer of tilapia.
