  Denmark is the single most important market for  Norwegian seafood. By the end of July of 1998, Norway had exported seafood valued at NOK 1.66 billion to the Denmark. This is a 16% increase on the same period last year.
  The biggest export item to Denmark is salmon.  During this period, Denmark imported Norwegian  salmon worth NOK 765 million - an increase of 20% on last year. Much of the seafood imported to Denmark is processed before being re-exported to other markets, mainly inside the EU.
