I Think I Can...I Think I Can...Choo...Choo
If you like fall colors, NOW is the time to make a trip to Taos, visit Best Value Indian Hills Inn - Taos Plaza, and take a ride on Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR. I sent my cousin last weekend and he says it is spectacular and about to get even better! Colors are just starting their fall pilgrimage from green thru bright yellow to fallen. And the crowds are up so they double headed the ride up the West half out of Chama. If you don't realize what I'm babbling about, Cumbres is a steam powered narrow gauge train and a double header isn't talking about base ball. Two coal fired steam locomotives heralding from the late 1800's pull 10 or more passenger loaded cars up to 10,000 foot Cumbres Pass. Steam is a gas and you'll agree, the ride is too! Check out our web site for a link to Cumbres. Tickets are available only direct from Cumbres this year. Ends October 20, 2002.
Taos Mountain Film Festival
After an auspicious start in 2001 just after September 11, October 11-13, 2002 is the weekend for Taos' fall film festival. Get all the details at www.mountainfilm.net. Nearly all activities are downtown or very near to downtown - we're the most convenient and reasonably priced lodging in the downtown area! Book on line from our web site or call us for a reservation for this fun weekend. Stay a couple extra days to visit all the surrounding area sites. The season is slowing down so there are fewer folks and smaller crowds during the fall. As usual for local festivals, we'll have some of the film folks staying with us.
Taos Balloon Festival
October 25-27, 2002 is the weekend for Taos' own cozy balloon meet. We'll have a couple of the pilot teams as Guests at the Inn so spend a few days in late October with us, the balloons, and the sites of Taos! Great hiking weather. Shopping season is in full swing - the holiday's are just 2 ½ months away. Museums with tons of historical information. Galleries with paint galore!
Please, Pray for Snow
Ski season is scheduled to start November 29, 2002. It's already snowed a couple of times in the high mountains above Taos. We need everyone to Think Snow! Taos Ski Valley is offering half price tickets from opening thru December 16, 2002. Available only with a room at Best Value Indian Hills Inn - Taos Plaza which also happens to be half off! If you find a better deal, take it! I don't believe there are any better. If you are one of the lucky millenium pass holders, we'll sharpen our pencil for prepaid room sales for this ski season. A couple of folks have made Best Value deals! Email us with your questions.
Extended Stay Special Rates
We want your long term stay business! You'll enjoy unusually low rates for any stay 3 nights or longer. For example, our 30 day rate gets as low as $30 a night. The Extended Stay Special Rates are for prepaid, non refundable, no changes reservations / presales. It's Taos' Best Value!
