The house is a 6,000 square foot solar adobe with natural adobe walls and stone floors. It is furnished in a comfortable southwestern style, and features the owners' contemporary art collection. Breakfast is served overlooking the gorge in the 1600 square foot common room, which is circular and surrounded by glass. Guests are welcome anytime in the common room - it's great for bird watching or just looking at the mountains. There's even a baby grand you are welcome to play. |
|
From the common room, you can see the Jemez Caldera above Los Alamos, San Antonio Mountain (the largest free standing mountain in the US), Ute Mountain (on the Colorado border), about 50 miles of the Sangre de Cristo Range just to the east, and a few miles of the Rio Grande Gorge north of Taos.
You can walk to the gorge, and down the old stagecoach trail to Manby Hot Springs on the river. |
